The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Diamond Jubilee Logo It’s nearly time to party! With only a few days left to go until the Jubilee weekend, communities worldwide are preparing to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, either by attending an official Jubilee event or hosting their own street party! The Diamond Jubilee is a celebration of 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. An interesting fact: on February 6, 1952 Princess Elizabeth acceded to the throne and it took over a year to arrange the coronation, which was held on June 2, 1953 at Westminster Abbey.

Queen Elizabeth the 2nd  The Queen is the second longest serving monarch in the United Kingdom: only Queen Victoria has ruled longer with a reign of 63 years.
