Pair Off, a Valentine’s Day tasting event for Lovers of Beer, Chocolate and Cheese
Chelsea Market Baskets is hosting a private tasting of craft beer, cheese, and chocolate on February 7, 2013 with Union Beer and S.K.I. Beer from 5pm- 7pm in the store.
Well-known for a carefully curated assortment of chocolate and cheese, Chelsea Market Baskets has recently begun to carry craft beer of the same high standard. Pair Off will feature ten beers poured in tandem with five cheeses and five chocolates.
The pairings will be created, explained and discussed by Union Beer’s Andrew Jorge, S.K.I. Beer’s Seth Giurato and Chelsea Market Baskets Owner David Porat.

I did bicycle to work and back today from the upper west side. There is traffic on the streets of Manhattan with quite a few emergency vehicles. I did take the bicycle path down the side of Hudson river and there was some debris about but tourists were out and many people were biking and walking. South of 30th Street the city changes a bit, with no traffic lights and less taxis about that are available.
At our store and office, based on a flashlight inspection, everything looks fine, upstairs and downstairs. Some water did get into the 10th ave side of the building but did not make it up the ramp in the basement, to the best that I know. Basically the Hudson River came up to Chelsea Market’s doorstep but hardly entered the building. The Eastern and Southern sides of Manhattan were not so lucky.

Spring is in the air, and with it a very special occasion: Mother’s Day! We have already added special gifts to our online collection, and in the next week leading up to May 13th, we’re hosting several mom-friendly demos and events in the store. It is a little Parisian, a little sweet, and a lot of ways to say “thank you” to the special moms and women in your life!
On May 5th, CMB welcomes back Tammy Fahey and Suss Sweets caramels from New Hampshire. We’re excited to introduce a new flavor from her: Vanilla with Sea Salt. We also will be demoing Valrhona’s signature Grand Cru Guanaja 70% for the classic mom that would appreciate having the preferred chocolate of Jean-Georges Vongerichten in her pantry! And a brand new demo for CMB- we are thrilled to welcome Carolyn Hansen and Cathleen Peck, the authors of the PowerHiking guide book series that outlines great walks in metro areas, for a book signing. While the rain may keep you from doing a lot of walking today, their New York book does a great job of educating about a certain neighborhood and lays a path through the area that is easy to follow and includes lots to see and do. Moms will love this series, whether they are visiting New York or looking to explore the city they call home.

Les Canelés de Céline online pastry shop is coming to Chelsea Market Baskets for a limited time. Formerly, you could only purchase these sweets online for delivery or pick-up. However, for two days Sunday, May 1st between 1-6pm and Saturday, May 7th 11am-2pm, these treats will make there way to our store.
